Triazine Testing

The primary purpose of this web page is to act as a portal for downloading a copy of the Triazine Testing PowerPoint presentation that is used to guide students through the laboratory procedure.  A secondary purpose is to relay some information about what the test results may mean and where you could confirm your findings if you wish.

The following link should allow you to view the PowerPoint presentation.

Triazine Testing

The Environmental Protection Agency has set standards for acceptable concentrations of various types of chemical contaminants found in drinking or ground water. The following link will allow you to view the standards for many of these chemicals. Atrazine is found under organic chemicals.

Standards

Several of the more important abbreviations used in the chart are defined below.

Maximum Contaminant Level (MCL) - The highest level of a contaminant that is allowed in drinking water. MCLs are set as close to MCLGs as feasible using the best available treatment technology and taking cost into consideration. MCLs are enforceable standards.

Maximum Contaminant Level Goal (MCLG) - The level of a contaminant in drinking water below which there is no known or expected risk to health. MCLGs allow for a margin of safety and are non-enforceable public health goals.
