Chesapeake Biogeochemical Associates
was founded by Michael Owens and Jeffrey Cornwell in 2000 to provide
a business entity for their consulting work in high-tech sediment
assessment. Both principals maintain University of Maryland affiliation
and have a series of projects funded by agencies such as USEPA,
Sea Grant, NOAA, and the National Science Foundation. Projects with
significant new technology and a strong hypothesis-driven basis
are kept within university research. However, for the application
of standard sediment dating and flux procedures, we provide these
services on a contract basis.
The services provided generally involve
sediment/sample collection, application of sediment-water exchange
experiments appropriate to each individual environment, data analysis
and report writing/interpretation. Most analyses are contracted
with USEPA-certified laboratories. The price of services is variable
based on logistic costs and the nature of the biogeochemical measurements
requested. We work with our clients to develop programs that meet
their data and cost requirements.
